Over a 9 month period Avco worked with Michael Craig-Martin on the video design, immersive design and development of the 4 projector 360 degree immersive animation.
Created especially for the retrospective exhibition, Cosmos is the artist’s first 360-degree immersive installation.
Using all of Michael’s drawings created over the last 40 years, we created a 20 minute animated sequence, utilising several types of particle system, 3D animation and a physics simulations.
In his own words, “It’s a summation of the cosmos, of my cosmos, of what I’ve done”.
Cosmos by Michael Craig-Martin, with immersive video design by Daniel Jackson of AVCO and spatialised sound composition by Benji Fox, is displayed at the Royal Academy from 21 September to 10 December 2024.
